I was horrified when I read the news and watched a demonstration on how easy it was to steal someone's credit and debit card information yesterday.... and what's more, you don't even know it is happening!

Applique Animals

So I was looking at Jennifer's "Zoo Friends" online class and wondering why I haven't made these darling little animals before now. I guess it boils down to me always being too busy designing my own quilts. Well I decided that wasn't quite good enough. Her pattern "Animal Party" has been a huge hit and I know her class is going to be too so I at least need to make some of these little critters.

Pieced Place Mats

Today, being Sew-in on Connected Threadz, I knew I needed something to sew. I had a few choices, like sewing on binding, but that didn't really appeal. I needed something a little more creative so I started digging around in my fabrics and pulled out a combination of teals which I thought would work well for place mats on my table. Not that I usually use brown that much, but today I had a feeling that I should include a golden brown with the selection.

Selecting fabric for Bargellos

One of the biggest problems my students have when making a bargello quilt is selecting the fabric and then grading the fabrics from light to dark. As I am writing a new Bargello online class, I decided it would be fun to share some information about how best to select your fabrics and grade ready for the class to begin. Of course, this will also be helpful for my existing students and other projects such as color wash quilts where you need to grade fabrics from light to dark.

As a follow on from last week, I made a decision on the white sailor. He just looked more appealing to me, however he doesn't photograph so well.

If you are a follower of my blog posts (which happen to be far and few between at the moment), you will know that once a year I like to try to revive one of my patterns and make it better than it was. Last year it was "A Freshness of Spring" and this year it is "I Love Teddy".

Today I want to share a project from one of my students Judy of Switzerland. Judy joined my online class at Quilt University "Bargello Blues" where she learned to make this design. The class is four lessons long and also teaches you to create your own bargello designs.
