A Challenge - in more than one way!
I don't know if you've heard, but we are back in lockdown again.... I was hoping we were over that but no, it continues into 2021... and to be fair, right back at the start of last year when we first went into that dreaded level 4, I predicted we'd still be having problems this time next year!
During lockdown many find they have less to do as they stay home from work, I find I have twice the load and pressures.... so somewhere in all this, I need to find time to get in some quilt making as it really is a rewarding and soothing stress relief. Focusing, thinking, planning, and calculating is a great way to keep one's thoughts from the dismal refines of lockdown.
So what will I do? I think I'll do something I've not done before... and that is to cut up a perfectly good quilt.... oh shock! Why would I do that?
Before I explain, here is what my quilt looks like:
The reasons I might do this are:
- It was made so long ago and never finished.... and because of this, really not my colors any more - although it is pretty enough (to be fair, it only needed the binding to be finished)
- It's not my design - in fact, I'm not sure where I got the design from, probably a book way back before I started designing my own patterns - this small quilt is likely to be more than 20 years old!
- It's not large enough to add border etc to make it a decent sized quilt.
- And it's too large to make into a cushion or tote
So... I'm going to cut it up. Any ideas on how I should do that? I have an idea or two and about to head off to my cutting table. I have a feeling this could be rewarding.... wish me luck!
PS: I'll post again next week with how I got on...
