Friday Flower Bird of Paradise

Bird of Paradise is a unique, colorful and beautiful flower. It is one of those flowers that you either love or just don't like. I love the brightness of it and how it is so different to every other flower.

I snapped a shot of one in my friend's garden.

And another friend happened to take a snapshot of one too.

I made just one flower on my block but I added several leaves as well. I used four shades of orange fabrics and one of purple. The pieces in the flower are quite small and delicate so I built them as an individual flower on a teflon sheet first.

After all the pieces were fused to the background, I stitched them in place.

I did extra stitching on the leaves to give them more definition.

My finished block looks like this.
