Friday Flower Cosmos

These simple looking flowers are always a favorite as they are so bright and colorful. The colors vary between the different species. The leaves are also simple and pine needle like in shape. It is hard to see the leaves with this flower I photographed as it is in among other plants.

I kept my design simple creating each flower a one section and then adding stitching. The lightbox helps me see the design through the background fabric so I can draw in the leaves ready to machine stitch later.

Using a lightbox

This is done before the applique shapes are attached and then I use the lightbox again to place all the sections accordingly.

I added stitching along each petal and more to create detail on the bud.

My finished piece looks like this.
