Friday Flower Rhododendron

Today my new flower block is a rhododendron. The bushes are so pretty when they are in full flower. Clusters of trumpet shaped flowers are displayed on a shelf of leaves it would seem.

Rhododendrons come in all sorts of wonderful colors, yellow, pink, purple and red. White, blue and orange too. They are certainly quite a site. I always admired the large bushes growing in the school grounds in my early school days. I never knew what they were then, but their beautiful image always remained in my mind.

I made my block with red flowers. Just one cluster.

For the leaves I used a number of different fabrics.

My finished block looks like this.
