Creating a Block in EQ8
Since last week's Christmas block, I've been asked a number of times how to design the block in EQ8 and/or if I have a copy of the file.... so this week I decided it would be good to show you how to draw your own blocks and a few tips I used along the way to make the drawing easy.

Block 2
A few notes before we begin:
- You can create the same block in EQ7 if you have it but the instructions are a little different. If you need extra help I can strongly recommend Shirley's EQ7 workshop which will show you even more: EQ7 Beginner's Patchwork
- If you don't have EQ, you can draw your block in other graphic programs such as Inkscape or even GIMP (free to download and use). I offer a workshop to get started on both these programs if you need help with either: Free Software for Quilters
So for those of you who do have EQ8, I thought the best way to show you is by creating a screencast. This screencast shows you the steps I used to create my Christmas block and color it.... so feel free to follow along.
A little tip on watching this video: I've set up 3 chapters.... setup, drawing, and coloring... along the video so you can easily find the spot within the video that corresponds to that related area. You can find the chapters along the toolbar at the bottom of the video as shown in this picture.

Where to find Chapters
This video is about 10 minutes long so I hope you get lots of useful tips..... Let's get started!
I hope you found this useful.... thanks for watching!
.... and if you missed the instructions for my first two blocks, you'll find them here: Block 1 and Block 2
