Stitch and Flip
Here is a quick way to make almost anything quilted from placemats to quilts or purses to jackets. The great thing about this technique "Stitch 'n' flip" is you have no quilting to worry about at the end and you can use any scraps of fabric you have on hand. I prefer fabrics that go together, (but you can use any at all) my preference being a two color combination. To read more about colors, check out this blog post by Jen: Complimentary Colors
Daring
A couple of weeks ago I posted a photo that I shot from the Port Hills near Christchurch. I used it as quilting inspiration then and said there was a bit more of a story that belongs to it. I figured I should enlighten you.
Arctotis block continued
As I was working on the Arctotis block yesterday I decided that this block could be simplified for those who do not like all those pieces - mainly the petals on each flower. I thought I'd give it a try, this time making an orange flower instead of pink. The orange looked so pretty that I decided I should complete a whole block rather than just one flower. I picked up some useful tips that will help you too.
Friday Flower Arctotis
Today is flower day Friday and I have a new flower applique to present. This flower is one of my favorite. I have always admired it. It reminds me of a daisy but its silver grey leaves gives it the name of Arctotis. A common name for it is African Daisy.
ABC quilt jigsaw
I thought this quilt pattern - ABC's baby quilt designed by Stephanie Senior would make a great jigsaw. Give it a try.
Twin Star quilt block
Star blocks are fun to make and the one I am going to show you today is definitely a pretty one. It is called Twin Star and created as a nine-patch so goes well with other nine-patch blocks. By the way, this would be a great addition to the border corners of Anita's Entwined Star quilt pattern when made as a 6" finished block.
Machine Quilting Day 3
Every time I go out I try to remember to take my camera with me - it doesn't always happen but I remembered today. I decided it would be a good idea to search for and snap shots of possible quilting inspiration so that's what I had in mind. The one I'm using today was taken when I was almost home again. It's a photo of the road. You wouldn't think I could get quilting inspiration from that, but I did. Those little white bumps on the white lines is what gave me the idea.
Trinity Celtic Knot pattern
Did you know that our popular Trinity Celtic Knot quilt pattern (pattern can be found by clicking link) designs by Deborah Cohen is now available as an online class? Today I want to take you inside the class for a preview of what you can expect, but first I must say thank you Deborah for this wonderful Celtic patchwork design and allowing me to present it online as a quilting class.
Organizing Lists
I really wanted to get to some sewing today but here is it late afternoon and I still haven't started. I guess there is still time! One thing I did do was organize myself - well somewhat. I was also playing with my new Android and Evernote. My droid is a lot of fun especially when you get the right apps. I think Evernote might be one.
Quilters Word Search
Today I made a quilter's word search. There are two parts to this word search.
