Friday Flower Primula

Friday's flower this week is a Primula. I love the shape of this flower. It is very simplistic. I noticed some of these flowers have four petals, others have five. I used five for my templates.

Recently I ordered some Hoffman fabrics and they arrived in the mail yesterday. I love Hoffman Fabrics and in particular batiks and the 1894 Bali hand-dyes they have. There is such a wonderful range of shades and colors that I wished I owned them all.

Machine Quilting Day 2

Today's is another quilting day which means using a photo to inspire me into a machine quilting design. As I was looking through some photos I found this photo I had taken a while back. It's near Christchurch city, New Zealand from the Port Hills. This was before Christchurch was hit by all those earthquakes - I'm sure it doesn't look quite the same now!

Most quilters have lots of fabric in their stash, from small scraps to large amounts of yardage. If you don't applique, it is hard to use up those small scraps so today I thought I'd show you the easiest block ever. A simple 4-patch.

This weekend I had the pleasure of chatting with Patricia Mitchell a quilter from California. She was telling me what she was up to in quilting. I always think it is fun seeing what others have done so I asked her if she would like to be my guest quilter for my blog. As you will see, she has made a number of my designs.

Friday Flower Pansy

Friday is going to be dedicated to flowers. One of my favorite quilting adventures is to create flowers in appliqlue techniques so this Friday marks the beginning of a series of applique flowers I'm going to be creating. With copyright issues a big thing, I prefer not to use other photographs or images to create my designs. Instead I take my own photos. It is often easier this way because then I can get exactly the right image I want.

Last year about the middle of May I received an email from Rosalie Hixson. She had purchased my quilt pattern "Simply Sunflowers" as a kit from the Keepsake Quilting Catalog and was working on it, ready to being the blanket stitching but had a question.
