Tote A Block
Today was one of those days when I should have been working but I got a little side tracked. I started playing with my flower blocks and teddy bear blocks and created some cushions and totes.
Friday Flower Fuchsia
Fuchsias are my very favorite flowers. They grow on shrubs or small trees and there is over 100 recognized species around the world. An unusual genus in New Zealand (named Kotukutuku - don't ask me how to say that!) grows on a tree 12-15 meters high (39-49 feet).
Blocks into Quilts
Over the last three weeks I made three blocks: Girl's Favorite, Girl's Favorite 2 and Crown of Thorns. All three blocks are very similar in design but can look very different when placed in a quilt.
Machine Quilting Day 16
What does Pizza have to do with quilting? Well it's a really good bring-in food when you have a quilty day with your friends - yeah, but that's not what it has to do with today's blog post. Something quite different in fact. As it happened, I was making a pizza the other day for a special occasion and as I was slicing up a tomato for the topping, I thought what a cool quilting design.
Knot of Squares - aka Trinity Celtic Knot
Earlier this year I wrote about my Knot of Squares online class which is based on Deborah Cohen's Trinity Celtic Knot quilt pattern. I gave you an insight of the class and what you would learn plus various options. Today I want to share with you my finished version.
Girls Favorite - free pattern
Two weeks ago I made a block called Girl's Favorite 2. You are probably wondering why the 2? That's because it is an alternative to the original Girl's Favorite. This week I'm going to make Girl's Favorite as a 12" block. There is little difference although it looks quite different because of the fabric positions. The center unit is the only construction difference.
How do you like Strawberries?
Fresh strawberries are one of my favorite fruits. Strawberry flavored food is yuck. Even me who's totally favorite food is ice cream does not like strawberry ice cream at all. Give me coffee, mint or boysenberry ice cream any day, but don't offer me strawberry.
Color Connections Bargello jigsaw
It's been quite a while since I posted a jigsaw. I love doing these jigsaws. Remember you can change the cut and number of pieces to make it more difficult. See how fast you can do this one.
Friday Flower Daffodil
Today's flower block is another spring flower. Daffodil flowers are trumpet-shaped set on a star arrangement of petals. They come in shades of yellow and white. Usually the trumpet is a different shade than the petals. I love seeing these flowers in spring. It is a sure sign that warmer weather is upon us.
Helpful Tips for Quilting
Recently I been asked a number of questions on a lot of different topics and most of the answers to these questions are posted in articles and free lessons on my website so today I thought it would be helpful to make a list of resources available.
