Friday Flower Geranium

I was doing a little research on geraniums before starting this block and found there are 422 species. It's no wonder they all look a little different. They are usually seen in warm colors and their leaves are very unique making them easy to identify. Mum took a couple of photos of her plants while they were flowering.

Clay's Choice quilt block or not

Currently I am teaching Carol's Anatomy of a Block class at Quilt U and was looking through the class lesson to see which new block I could make. I liked the look of Clay's Choice block. It looks more difficult than it really is. Some make it using all half square triangle units, but it is actually easier to make using the flying geese unit technique or snowball corner.

Friday Flower Helenium

Helenium is not a common flower to me, but I love the shape of its petals. The flowers are usually yellow or orange. As I was doing some research on it and found out it is also known as sneeze weed. I found this fabulous photo on the wikipedia
