No patterns, no rules! The aim of this workshop is to learn how to work from your ideas and discover your own personal voice. In the process, we will cover the basics of good design within the context of the art quilt.
This week I needed to include my sparkly element. I had selected two threads last week but didn't use them so now was my opportunity to make use of them. I decided to use the green Sulky Holoshimmer thread and echo the leaf shape.
Really quick and sweet for the last week's rules in June. If you remember from last week I gave you two words to use. You may have used them both, but if not, then make sure you do by the end of this week. The words were "echo" and "sparkle".
Felting takes many forms from sculptures to wispy scarves. The results can be soft and delicate or sharply defined as in the last three images in this screen shot of the first few images currently on my Pinterest Felting board.
It's been a busy week for me so it was quite nice to relax into my stitch along project today. I had an idea of what I was going to do for the stitching, so I jumped right in.
I love making Still Life quilts. In fact, I even have an online workshop on how to make them at the AcademyofQuilting.com which not only includes all the instructions but gives you direct access to me with helping you create your own templates for your own Still Life project.
Word games are fun, especially when you mix them with quilting. I have been thinking hard about how I can incorporate the thought "broken shape" into my quilt. It wasn't until I got started that the real idea came to me. If you missed the rules this week or want to get started, you can find them here - Week One rules and Week Two rules.
As I mentioned last week, we are playing a word game with this challenge. For our first week, we were thinking of the words "Painter's Palette" so I hope you gathered things that might work for you. If you missed the full details, check back here: June rules 1.
Remember to join in for some fun in our June stitch along. It really isn't too difficult and it is a bunch of fun. Here are the rules which will be updated each week as more rules are posted.
