People will want to take photos of your back!
Everybody likes to wear beautiful clothes, and this particular jacket is the kind of jacket that make people want to take pictures of your back. It’s also great fun to piece and applique, and there’s really no limit to what you can do to embellish this underwater scene to make it completely your own!
The Grid
The Grid - one of the exercises from Inspired to Design with Elizabeth Barton. You can try it too or join her online workshop for even more inspiration and designing skills.
Things you can try when screen printing
Shirley's a whiz when it comes to screen printing. Here's just a few things you can try in her screen printing workshop.... and did you know? Even though a screen helps, it isn't even necessary for this class!
My May Stitch Along Week 4
Last week I decided to foundation piece my flower. It actually went a little quicker than I thought and I think, with some pleasing results. I'm going to describe the process below so you can give it a try too.
People in Places
Linda S. Schmidt’s "People in Places" online workshop is starting up soon, so sign up now! This class is a great one for people who would like to learn how to transform a favorite photo into a fabric work of art.
Choosing a color palette
As I see it there are two ways to choosing a palette – one is to be rather technical and methodical and work from the color wheel, deciding whether or not your palette will be analogous (3 or 4 colors adjacent on the color wheel), or complementary (two colors (and perhaps their neighbors) opposite each other on the color wheel).
My May Stitch Along Week 3
I have to admit, it is fun going back to the design board to recreate the same image again. It makes you put your thinking cap on to come up with different ideas. I'm not really a "piecing" person, but I figured this photo could work rather well as a foundation block so decided that's what I would do.
May Stitch Along Rules Week 3
For week three of our May challenge, I decided we should make this flower again but in a different way to last week's flower. The idea is to get your thinking of alternative methods of construction. You can use the same flower, or another if you like, but make the methods different.
My May Stitch Along Week 2
Oh man, did I have a lot of fun with my flower stitch along this weekend. This could get really addictive! I even tried out something new. A technique that I refer to as back to front applique. You see, instead of fusing the back of the fabric to cut it out, I made a sandwich of backing, batting and fusible webbing - in that order so the fusible was on top. Then I cut pieces of green fabric and lay them on top of the fusible, making sure it was all covered before pressing it in place. It worked a charm!
