August Stitch Along Week One Rules
Did you complete the last two sets of rules for two different types of quilt finishing? If you haven't check back to see what I did for Week Two (a facing finish) and Week Four (an alternative facing finish).
My Stitch Along July Week 4
This week I am going to do another type of facing which is quite different to my last one. I would only use this method for small quilts but I have used it to make cushions too. There are some really good advantages such as, completely no hand stitching, very easy to attach a label by machine and very easy to add additional quilting if you decide to afterward.
July Stitch Along Rules for Week Three
As a reminder, stitch alongs are now spread over two months instead of one, so there is always time to catch up if you missed a week or even the first 2. Join me in the July/August stitch and get some WIPs finished.
Your Own Unique Hawaiian Quilt is just around the corner
I’ve been designing and making my own Hawaiian quilts since March 1978; when, with a tiny bit of help from my teacher, Luika Kamaka, I designed a king-size Hawaiian Plumeria Quilt.
My Stitch Along July Week 2
The first quilt I chose to finish off is Wild Flowers which is a quilt I made a couple of years ago and I actually have the pattern for sale on my website. For some reason - I was probably in a rush at the time - I never added the binding.
Developing one's own style
As a teacher, I am frequently asked about how one can develop one's own style. We can clearly see that the Big Names all have it, but how is it done? Does it just happen over time? Or can you jump start it?
Fast and Easy Piecing
Quilting has come a long way since I became an dedicated quilted back in 1982. I wanted to make the hundreds of quilts that were swimming through my head when I learned how to quilt. I went from hand piecing to machine piecing. Starting with Half Square Triangles, sewing squares instead along that bias cut edge of the triangle, I stepped outside the box and did a lot of "what ifs?"
July Stitch Along Rules for Week One
I have decided to change my Stitch Along programs a little. Instead of a new Stitch Along being presented every month, I will be doing each stitch along over two months, with rules one weekend - questions and answers included, and my project the next weekend plus any updates of photos for those joining in. This way you have more time to get the stitch along done and I have more time to present them. I hope to see more of you joining in.
Is perspective puzzling you?
Is perspective puzzling you? ....you find that sometimes something is just “off” in one of your art quilts and you can’t quite put your finger on the problem. It may be a perspective issue.
