It's definitely time for another blog challenge but this blog challenge is going to be a little different because my daughter Emma decided she wanted to challenge me rather than have me challenge everyone... so for this challenge, Emma will be setting the rules and creating her own piece while I create a piece of my own.
I asked Linda recently what she'd been up to of late and she sent me this wonderful story explaining how she created a beautiful modern log cabin quilt from her boxes of scraps. This is so inspiring that I might just need to try it myself and definitely had to share it with you.
So here is a preview of the quilt I've been working over the weekend. It is almost complete with only some quilting to finish off and if it had not been for the interruption, I would have finished it! It has taken me just 2.5 days to complete so a perfect weekend project.
I have some very exciting news for all of you who have embroidery machines - soon we will have embroidery designs available for you from "Billy Creek Designs by Marilyn Lee". If you know Marilyn Lee, you will know about the beautiful work she creates, both in embroidery and in quilting (see her online quilting classes at academyofquilting.com for more about quilting). Marilyn takes wonderful photos and has plans to turn many of these into embroidery designs which we will have available for you. Recently I asked her what got her started...
Why would I want to chop up a quilt? Literally, I don't but it is fun to imagine what we can create by chopping one up. This idea came to me while creating my last challenge and not knowing what to do with the final piece. The finished project was not something I particularly wanted to display, so I had the idea of chopping it up for coasters. You can check that blog post out here if you want.
