eight-pointed star block

I really like star blocks. I am not sure what it is that I like about them, I just do. There are so many different ones, a wonderful selection. Today I'm going to introduce you to an eight pointed star block. Be warned, this is not a beginner block. I found the easiest way to make this was with foundation pieces.

Border For Last week's quilt

Last Monday I put together my Card Trick and Grecian Squares, but could not decide on a border. I decided on the one with the dots, third from the left in last weeks photo. I was going to use the squares (4th from the left) but found I didn't quite have enough of that, so the dots it was.

Card Trick and Grecian Square Quilt

Last Monday, I put together two blocks "Card Trick" and "Grecian Square" to see how they looked. They coupled well together I thought so this week I made some more to make a small quilt. I wanted to share the requirements with you. I made a total of EIGHT "Card Trick" blocks and SEVEN "Grecian Square" blocks. The blocks are 6" finished blocks.

Yesterday I made the Card Trick block. To make it easy, I used only squares even though the block is made up of many triangles. We had a few units left over. Sooooo....

I was looking for a different sort of block to make in the EQ library. I was considering mosaic blocks and as I was looking at a selection my eye kept on being drawn back to Mosaic Block Number 15.
