Machine Quilting 45

Today as I was walking home I found a pinecone on the side of the road and decided that could be an idea for quilting, especially for a Christmas design or autumn too for that matter.

I took a couple of photos at different angles.

I decided to go with the more open look like the top photo. I started off making a flower-like design with a slightly oval center and smaller sections on the right side.

Then I added a row around the bottom left side making the sections slightly larger.

I continued to add more rows. Sometimes I had to backtrack over the existing stitching to get to the right point especially on the outer rows.

I filled in around the bottom to give it a little more shape and to finish it off.

This has sparked another idea that I'd like to try out, but that's for another day.
