Poppy Quilts
Last week I was telling you how I revamped my stained glass poppy quilt to make it better, well that got me thinking about all the poppy quilts I've made - there are several including a free poppy block!
Poppy Day was my first poppy quilt. It was designed for students who wanted to learn three-dimensional applique and then was later written as an online workshop.
My next poppy quilt was called California Poppies and it was inspired by my color wash series of flowers. This flower series was made up of a pieced background in a color wash fashion with applique flowers on top. Each background is different as is the flower. California Poppies has a chevron background (it can also be made square) and was born while I was visiting the USA.
As I mentioned last week, my simple stained glass poppy was also designed for a workshop and now it has its new version - both of which are included in the updated pattern.
When we had the 10 year anniversary of the Southern California quilter's run, I designed another poppy quilt using the specially made Hoffman fabric. This was a bed quilt and the hit of the run as everyone was talking about it. This is another quilt I'd like to remake, but using different fabrics but as of yet, I haven't found the perfect one!
Here's a closer view of the poppies...
In 2013, I made 52 flower blocks - one, of course, was a poppy. It's one of my most popular blocks of the 52.
Last but not least is my free block at I give away when anyone signs up for my newsletter (just add your email to the form below). It can be made with or without the background piecing.
