Sometimes I make large quilts
Those who know me, know that the majority of quilts I make are wall hanging size. A couple, for example are Simply Sunflowers and Bargello Blues. But there are occasions when I make full sized bed quilts. Usually these are given for gifts. In fact, I don't actually have a quilt of my own design for my own bed - how bad is that?
As I was looking through my photos I found two large quilts that I made some time ago.
This one I made for my mother - I'm trying to think when, but just cannot remember. I'd like to sau in the 1990s sometime. I'm sure it says on the label.
This is a scappy quilt made with nine-patch and snowball blocks on point. I love the quilting I did on this. Swirls on the right and lines curving out from the center on the left.
This next one I made for my daughter in 2002. She needed something quick.
I used a focus fabric for the diamond blocks and around the border with navy blue to square off the diamonds. I pulled the colors from the focus fabric for the flowers. There are additional flowers quilted around the white areas which you can just see if you look closely on the corner closest in the photo. Can you see them?
Perhaps it is time for me to make another large quilt. Actually I'm in the process of doing that - it's one of those projects that I'm doing in my spare time, so it doesn't get a lot of work done on it. I'll likely post a photo when it's done.
