Easy Patchwork Baby quilt
With postage on the rise, we are introducing more and more downloads to get our patterns out to quilters, yet we will likely always carry our main patterns in hardcopy format. We have put out several downloads already this year, the first was Fiesta (a bargello pattern) and my flower blocks and BOW program are also both downloads. Jennifer Houlden has also produced a download for us too called "Right Angles". This is a baby quilt made of squares and rectangles only, so very quick to put together and ideal for a gift.
I decided I will select some fabrics and see just how easy this went together. Wow I was impressed. This quilt is an easy afternoon pieced quilt. The pieces are quick to cut and it goes together like a breeze with only one seam to match in the block.
I really didn't have suitable baby fabrics so I chose a batik with seashell and starfish to use as my theme fabric. It's pretty and babyish.
Recently I saw some blue and brown baby clothing (thanks to my daughter having my grandson Thomas) and I really liked the color scheme so decided I'd give it a try. My block ended up like this.
Jennifer's pattern includes 2 sizes of blocks with 2 different layout plans. She gives three different sizes for each block so that is a total of twelve different quilts that could be made from this one pattern.
I ran out of time to finish all my blocks so I used the ones I had to generate a quilt image in GIMP. It's not perfect but gives you an idea of what the finished quilt looks like.
I love the theme fabric Jennifer used on hers, very bright and colorful. Check it out on Arbee Designs website at: Right Angles quilt pattern (it's only $5.49 so great value)
