Fiesta Bargello quilt
At the beginning of the year we loaded a new download into our catalogue called "Fiesta". This is a bargello quilt pattern which has two sizes, a wall hanging and a bed quilt.
Last week one of our catalog companies told us they would like to also carry the pattern so I'm in the process of making the quilt. I used the colors of the original Fiesta design, however you can use any color selection. Here are a couple of examples:
When selecting your fabric there are a couple of things to remember to get the best effect:
- Use a highlight or contrast fabric for fabric 1 (fabric 1 is the green in the image above)
- Use your darkest fabric for fabric 2
- Keep a flow from light to dark fabrics for fabrics 3 to 6. For example fabric 3 would be very light, fabric 4 - light, fabric 5 - medium and fabric 6 - medium dark.
Here are my fabrics which are the original fiesta colors.
I sewed all the strips together to make bargello blocks and then cut the bargello strips and placed on the design wall. I used the tube as I was making the small size, that way I didn't need to join pieces together.
I'm starting to join the bargello strips now. Halfway through.
All my strips are joined now, look how much it shrunk with the seams. The dotted line shows where the last strip was spread out to.
Next are the borders. I have two borders, a narrow dark one and a wider green one.
Now all I need to do is layer and quilt it, then transfer the pattern into hardcopy format. When this is all complete and the pattern is published next week, you will be able to purchase the pattern on our website. The download is already available for $6.99 but once published as hardcopy, this will increase. Fiesta Download
Check back next week to see how I quilted this. (quilt design is included in pattern)
