I'm so happy to finally launch my latest color wash pattern this week. You may have seen the sneak previews last month.
Did you guess the flowers would be irises? I've named this quilt "Idyllic Iris"
And yes, it is now available. You can find it here: Idyllic Iris pattern
I wanted to share some cool facts about the pattern.
- I include a grid for the background in the pattern so you can use your own colors or test your fabric choices. Either color the grid with colored pencils and match fabrics to those colors or use snippets of fabric to audition your fabrics and get an idea of how your background might look. By doing this, you can easily see a fabric stands out of place!
- If you applique, you know applique shapes are built up in layers starting at the back so some pieces are partially covered. In this case, parts of the back flowers are covered so are chopped off. However, in my pattern, I include the whole flower in the template so you do not need to be perfectly aligned with the pattern. In fact, you can actually create your own arrangement by moving them around or adding additional flowers too.
- Because this is a new release, if you are a subscriber to Arbee Designs newsletter, you'll get a discount code so be sure to subscribe today so you don't miss out.... and we are testing out some alternative shopping carts so no need to use PayPal if you don't want!
- I used the Barton Facing to finish off this quilt. I love how I don't need to frame it with a binding or border.... this is fast becoming my all-time favorite way to finish a quilt! The instructions for this technique are not something I can share here but they are available in "20 Methods to Finish Your Quilts" on our website.
I hope you enjoy this design as much as I had creating it. Happy Quilting!
