Over the weekend I was looking over all the Christmas patterns. There are more than I thought! I'm rather fond of poinsettias and realize I have a number of patterns that have poinsettias in them.

Morning Glories applique quilt - a play with color

I've been looking at my "Glorious Morning" quilt and thinking it would look great in different colors. Since the morning glories on this pattern are appliqued, it would be so easy to audition various fabrics, but sometimes it is easier to figure it out first. Mostly I know morning glories in a blue-purple color, but I see there are many in shades of blue-blue, purple and pink. Even white ones. I decided to play a little with colors to see what I came up with. First, here is the original.morning glories1

As you will have read from my last blog post, I've been updating the board bag and making myself a new tote in new colors. I'm really liking the combination. I do think the Amsterdam Star looks good in just 3 fabrics. What do you think?

At the beginning of this month, I released my latest quilt pattern called "Moon Lake". It is an applique pattern and from the title I'm sure you can guess that it has a moon and lake in it. The design is all applique, however it didn't start out that way. My first intention was to have a pieced background with flowers around the border, but then I decided I wanted to create a scene so a lake was born along with mountains and a night sky.

Six years ago last September I wrote a blog post on blogspot. I was amazed to find it still there even through I cannot get into the account and have not posted on there for many years. I did manage to copy the post and repost it here on my current blog site. This is the story of how Light Upon the Earth was created.

Crystal Charms

Earlier this year I mentioned the balipops and charm squares from Hoffman fabrics that I was planning on working with. Actually, it wasn't my own pattern I was making, which is unusual for me. Anita Eaton was working on a new design and I just thought it would look great in the volcano colors - black, orange and green for the most part.
