Excited to Share some of the online classes for 2014

I'm sure if you are a student at Quilt University and follow along with their newsletters that you'll know some of the teachers will be joining me at the Academy of Quilting. We have been busy installing many classes and I must admit, I love looking in the galleries to see what both teachers and previous students have created.

Today I want to share with you just a few of the classes that will be starting in the new year. As the time gets closer, we will be listing them all, but it is nice to have a sneak review now.

Marilyn Belford is one teacher joining me. Her artistic career certainly shows in her quilts. As we add her class "Realistic Fabric Portraits" to the Academy, she has been busy making videos to add to an already fabulous class. This will bring learning to another level for sure. Her work really is realistic and very beautiful.

This quilt is one of her parents made in 1999.

"Beginning Machine Embroidery" will be starting early in the year. If you have an embroidery machine that you are unsure how to use, then this class is a must to make the most of your machine. Joanne Winn's expertise will have you creating not only those designs already on your machine but also new that can be downloaded online.

Now I'm beginning to wish I'd spent that extra for one of these machines!

From quilt art to embroidery and onto patchwork. Seminole piecing has been around for a long time and a technique not to be forgotten. Derived from the Seminole people of south Florida who enhanced their garments with this style of quilting, Daphne takes it to another level. She shows how this technique can be turned into a beautiful tote, pillow or wall quilt, or you too can decorate a stylish jacket. Look for this class in early January.

These are just three of the classes starting up in 2014. I'll be listing more next week so be sure to check back Tuesday.

In the meantime, here are a couple of the classes starting this weekend. I hope you'll join me. There are more classes on our calendar too.
