For the ninth year, over 40 quilt artists from across the Southeast will exhibit work in the biennial invitational exhibition at the Piedmont Arts Association, Martinsville, Virginia. The theme of the exhibit is Celebration of Color. This year's exhibition features quilts in vibrant, stunning hues.

Susan Brittingham recently completed a quilt for this exhibit. In fact, she has two quilts in the show, her award-winning Mabry Mill and a new work, "Twilight of the Republic".

"Twilight of the Republic" uses perspective techniques to create the floor tiles. They look so real, as if you were actually standing in the quilt yourself! This technique is taught in an online class called "Perspective in Quilting", at the Academy of Quilting.

Mabry Mill, created in 2012, is made using the techniques from Susan's Photo to Quilts class on Landscapes. She has captured the watermill and trees, not to mention the reflections and other details, with such precision. The colors are amazing.
