Lilians Circular Bargello
Lilian just finished her quilt in my Circular Bargello class. She had a fun time and it shows with the result of her beautiful quilt. She used yellow/gold through to brown fabrics. It is wonderful to see the different colors students use.
Here's what she says about her quilt.
"For the background, I initially tried white, pale yellow, then cream colors; but the bargello didn't stand out as I had hoped. Thus, I used a black background which to me gives it a more dynamic appearance.
The middle part is composed of four circles of fabric. The small center is a yellow rose on a black background. Each of the circles is supposed to represent the colors of fabric used in the overall bargello.
For the shimmer thread to show up better, I need lighting on all four sides. You just get a slight glimmer with the one facing light.
My only regret is that I used a wool batting, instead of my usual 80/20 cotton. The bargello looks puffy (like a regular bed quilt), which I don't like on a wall quilt."
Lilian: You made a wonderful job and I love how you added the rose in the center. It really finished it off and made a signature of uniqueness.
