February Stitch Along Rules Week 3

Posted by Ruth on 18 February 2016 | 1 Comments

Week three for our challenge is to do the stitching. Keep with the Valentine theme and do some creative stitching. A heart can make some very nice designs when stitched or quilted in a continuous line around a seam or border. And if you don't feel comfortable about doing it free-motion, look on your sewing machine, you may have a decorative heart stitch there that can be use. A heart meander is good to play with too. Experiment with it first then add it to your project.

Of course, there are other things that represent Valentines too, like a red rose or chocolates. Use your imagination and come up with something creative to stitch or quilt.

If you are quilting it, remember to add batting and backing. If you are just stitching, you might need to add interfacing to support the fabric.

Barbara got creative this week and cut up some of her sample blocks then turned them into cards. What a wonderful gift and so much more fun and personal to give.

  • I am still enjoying making cards for friends and family out of fabric scraps and orphan blocks. It all started 2 years ago with one of your stitch alongside. Thanks.
