My May Stitch Along Week 1

Posted by Ruth on 2 May 2016 | 0 Comments

I hope you are joining me in this new stitch along challenge. If you missed the first week's instructions you can find them here: Week One of May Stitch Along. This should be a fun project to make.

I decided to make up a green background to work on so selected some Hoffman Fabric watercolors in green. I choose six shades of green and will probably applique and stitch them.

For the flower, I selected more Hoffman Fabric watercolors, this time in pinks and purples.

However, I'm not 100% satisfied they are the right colors so I decided I would play with my Paintstiks to see if I can come up with a better color scheme.

As you can see, the Stiks don't come in the color I want so it will be a matter of blending them together. I started with dark red and white, with a tad of black to darken it. red and white paintstiks - blended together on white fabric

Then I tried adding a little navy blue to change the color to a purplish shade instead of reddish color.

I will definitely need to play some more with these Paintstiks but I'm liking where this is going.

I still need to gather some threads and possibly some beads for the center.

I would love to hear your suggestions so leave a comment below and remember to send in a photo if you are playing along too. I hope you will!
