Stitch Along Sunday - my challenge week 2

Posted by Ruth on 11 August 2013 | 0 Comments

This week is stitching, my favorite part to any design. I had fun again. If you missed last weekend post, you can find it here: Last Weeks Post, and the rules for this week are here: August Challenge week 2 rules.

I started out by stitching my applique shapes in place. I like to stitch around everything twice. I used a navy thread to match the dark shapes and to give an outline on the top shapes.

Dark thread around the edges

Here is a close up. It is hard to see the stitching on the dark because it blends in so well. It is a different story on the lighter shape.

For the circles, I used a lime green thread, but still stitched the shadows with the dark thread.

Then I decided to add some circles in the background, also in the lime green thread. I stitched one and dragged the thread across to where I wanted to stitch the next. This makes it easier than snipping each off and starting over. It reminds me of a constellation as it is before snipping those threads, maybe an idea for another project.

After snipping off the threads I thought it might be a good idea to add a dark circle as well.

Double circles

However I didn't care for that and ripped it out.

Instead, I did an outline of the larger shapes using the dark thread.

Week two finished

That's it for today. Are you wondering what the two Jennifer's did this week? I have updated the August Challenge Gallery so check it out.
