At the Academy of Quilting we have been working on a new calendar and a slightly different way of presenting our classes. Now you don't have to wait any longer to register for a class and have a choice of dates to select from.

Student's Tote that Mat

Another class I am currently running at Quilt University is "Tote That Mat". It is a class based on my all time favorite pattern "Carry All Board Bag". The names probably give a good indication of what this pattern/class is all about. Yes you guessed it. It is a tote to carry your cutting board and quilting equipment. The good thing about it is that the standard 18" x 24" mat and 6" x 24" long ruler both fit this tote and it is still managable to carry. If you have an 8" x 24" long ruler, the ruler pocket can easily be adjusted to suit.

Entwined Star - ready to begin

Anita Eaton's Entwined Star quilt is a favorite for sure. The blocks are fun to make and look wonderful if you want to make them all scrappy. A great way to use up leftover scraps from other quilts.

Academy of Quilting website

Over the weekend, I updated the Academy of Quilting website (www.academyofquilting.com). It needed doing badly and really it is easy with the content management system I have installed. It's no harder than writing a blog post to be honest. About here, I really should tell you what the Academy of Quilting is. It's an online facility where you can learn to quilt based on patterns published at Arbee Designs. You could call it our sister website.

Bargello Blues - not so blue

I just had to share Julie's bargello blues, that isn't so blue. Julie Haase of Texas took my online class at Quilt University earlier this year. She selected colors in orange and gold from her border fabric to create the bargello then framed it with black. It is stunning I must say.

Applique Animals

So I was looking at Jennifer's "Zoo Friends" online class and wondering why I haven't made these darling little animals before now. I guess it boils down to me always being too busy designing my own quilts. Well I decided that wasn't quite good enough. Her pattern "Animal Party" has been a huge hit and I know her class is going to be too so I at least need to make some of these little critters.

Today I want to share a project from one of my students Judy of Switzerland. Judy joined my online class at Quilt University "Bargello Blues" where she learned to make this design. The class is four lessons long and also teaches you to create your own bargello designs.
