My Stitch Along August Week 4
Today I chose a quilt to finish off that I had made quite a while ago. It's a pepper quilt which I made as part of my Still Life workshop. It was completed and I had not planned to quilt it more than the stitching that edged the applique, but my love for stitching, made me think twice about that decision....
August Stitch Along Week Three rules
Here we are on the fourth week of stitch along rules for July/August so I'm sure you know exactly what is coming next. I have to admit I'm a bit behind this week because I have been very busy getting the new format set up for our workshops at academyofquilting.com .... more about that in the very near future.
My Stitch Along August Week 2
It wasn't until the very last moment that I actually decided which piece to finish. I looked at my free block and decided that would look better with some more quilting on it. I looked at Moon Lake and was not sure what sort of finishing I would do so that left me with my Halloween Pumpkin.
August Stitch Along Week One Rules
Did you complete the last two sets of rules for two different types of quilt finishing? If you haven't check back to see what I did for Week Two (a facing finish) and Week Four (an alternative facing finish).
My Stitch Along July Week 4
This week I am going to do another type of facing which is quite different to my last one. I would only use this method for small quilts but I have used it to make cushions too. There are some really good advantages such as, completely no hand stitching, very easy to attach a label by machine and very easy to add additional quilting if you decide to afterward.
July Stitch Along Rules for Week Three
As a reminder, stitch alongs are now spread over two months instead of one, so there is always time to catch up if you missed a week or even the first 2. Join me in the July/August stitch and get some WIPs finished.
My Stitch Along July Week 2
The first quilt I chose to finish off is Wild Flowers which is a quilt I made a couple of years ago and I actually have the pattern for sale on my website. For some reason - I was probably in a rush at the time - I never added the binding.
July Stitch Along Rules for Week One
I have decided to change my Stitch Along programs a little. Instead of a new Stitch Along being presented every month, I will be doing each stitch along over two months, with rules one weekend - questions and answers included, and my project the next weekend plus any updates of photos for those joining in. This way you have more time to get the stitch along done and I have more time to present them. I hope to see more of you joining in.
My May Stitch Along for Week 4
I totally love the stitching part of any quilt especially free motion and thread painting so I knew this would be a fun exercise for the weekend. The first thing I needed to do was stitch down that border. I used a very dark blue which matched the fabric and carefully stitched around the edges, but not before doing a warm up. I always do this before starting free motion.
May Stitch Along Instructions for Week 4
I know you already know what is coming for this week's instructions.... yes you guessed it. It's all about stitching. You'll need to make sure all those raw edges are secure and you will want to blend the colors of your fabric with stitching just like a painter would with paints.
