This is our last week for the sampler quilt, but instead of me giving you instructions for how to add binding to your quilt, I would like to hear which binding style you'd like to learn or which is your favorite binding.

Is it mitered binding?

Is it square binding?

Is it double or single binding?

Hand or machine binding?

There are many different options so leave me a comment at the end of this message and let me know which binding you'd like me to give instructions for. I use several different style depending on the project.

I look forward to hearing your comments...

  • Hi Ruth, I didn't know there were so many different ways! I'll be interested in whichever one you decide to tell us about.

  • Yes machine binding is when the entire binding is done by machine. I know of two ways to do it, depending on the look you want. However, in my opinion, it will never look as good as turning the binding over and hand stitching it in place. On the positive side, it is a stronger method of binding.

  • Hi Ruth

I would like to learn how to do the machine binding - I am assuming that the whole bit is put on by machine with no hand stitching. I have never done binding this way. Have always used a combination of both.
    Thanks
    Jen
