To round up our Christmas series of blog posts, I wanted to include reusable bags and cards... and this is a fun activity if you want to get children or grandchildren involved - especially the cards.
Small wall hangings, banners, and table runners all make wonderful gifts. We have many patterns for these over on Arbee Designs, but today I wanted to share with you some quick easy ideas that you can make literally in minutes if you have spare blocks you already have on hand. Practice pieces also work well. In particular, I like using frames or embroidery hoops to finish them off and give that perfect picture look.
Have you ever made a book cover? They are simple and fun - and they can be made from practically any spare block or quilt. Cutting up a quilt you started but never really liked, is a whole new excitement to enjoy!
Anita has a great idea for recycling totes. With plastic bags out, we are required to bring our own bags for shopping. Often we gather branded totes and we can decorate these to give as gifts or use ourselves. Of course, you can also start from scratch by making your own tote too.
Pillowcases and towels are on my list for this week. Both are very simple to make and fast too. Let's take a look.
This week I wanted to share various ways of making placemats which of course work perfectly with last week's coasters. This is something else I've made a lot of so I will add some free tutorials as well as some of my patterns.
This week I wanted to share one of my favorite gifts to make, coasters. I've done quite a few over the years as they are ideal gifts. Many I have given away, others I have kept for myself.
Anita kindly reminded me about the need to start Christmas gifts (and my grandchildren seem to already be mentioning it too!) so Anita and I put our heads together for a little brainstorming to come up with some ideas for quick and easy gifts. My plan over the next few weeks is to offer you a series of ideas (with tutorials) so you can get started too. It will be fun creating together! It's certainly a good time to consider starting some projects for the upcoming holidays.
